TypeRead: Reader Mode & Typing Practice (“the Extension”) is a Chrome browser extension designed to simplify online reading and provide an integrated typing practice experience. Your privacy is important to us. This policy explains what data we collect, how it is used, and your rights.
Data Collection
We do not collect, sell, or share any personal information from users.
The Extension only makes use of the following limited data:
- Local Preferences
- Theme selection (light/dark mode)
- Font size and layout preferences
- Reader mode on/off state
- Typing Session Statistics
- Words per minute (WPM), accuracy, and errors
- Session duration and progress
This data is stored locally on your device using Chrome’s storage
API.
Data Usage
- All processing happens locally on your browser.
- No personal information is ever sent to external servers.
- The Extension does not use cookies, trackers, or analytics tools.
- We do not transfer or sell user data to third parties.
Permissions Justification
The Extension requests the following Chrome permissions:
- storage: To save user preferences and typing session statistics locally.
- activeTab: To enable reader mode and typing overlay on the page you are visiting.
- scripting: To inject the reader mode and typing interface.
These permissions are required solely for the single purpose of providing the reading and typing practice functionality.
